Krill are small, shrimp like crustaceans that inhabit the cold ocean areas of the world, primarily the Antarctic and North Pacific oceans. They contain DHA, EPA and Astaxanthin. Kril Oil has been recognized as a superior source of essential fatty acids due to its higher bioavailability and ORAC value. Krill oil has significantly lower amount of heavy metal such as mercury because it is at the bottom of food chain.

EPA and DHA in krill oil are chained together in a way that is similar to ones in human body fat cells. Therefore, fatty acids in Krill oil are better absorbed to human than fish sourced fatty acids. Because of Krill oil's high absorption ability, which is called "bio-availability", a smaller amount of krill oil is needed for daily dosage. The suggested dosage of krill oil when compared to fish oil's is about half to achieve the same level of Omega-3 absorption. Also krill oil is highly digestible; there is no 'fish burps'.

In addition to EPA and DHA, krill oil contains astaxanthin, which is a powerful antioxidant. The astaxanthin found in krill oil provides excellent protection against ultraviolet light and UV-induced skin damage. The anti-oxidant potency of krill oil is such that when compared to fish oil in terms of ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorptance Capacity) values, it is known to be 48 times more potent than fish oil.


Vitamin D and K are fat-soluble vitamins that are essential for bone and vascular health. Both act on calcium and guide minerals towards where it is needed throughout the body.

Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) has the highest bioavailability among vitamin D groups. It plays a role in growth and maintenance of healthy bones and teeth. Recent research provides evidence of vitamin D against development of osteoporosis. Vitamin D3 aids calcium absorption from the intestine, reduces calcium excretion, and facilitates calcium incorporation into the bones.

Vitamin K2 also plays an important role in protecting bone loss as well as proper heart and brain function. It is a director of calcium, guiding the mineral towards tissues where it is needed, such as in bones, and away from tissues where it could have a negative effect, such as arteries.
